The city of light is as gorgeous in the spring as it is in the autumn so there is never a bad time to visit Paris. You’ll never want to leave your Paris hotels though to go home if you’re staying there during winter, as the festive lights and cosy cafes create a winter wonderland.
Ice skating is probably the coolest activity Paris has to offer in the winter. Come December, the first floor observation deck on the Eiffel Tower is transformed into a glittering ice rink where up to 80 skaters can glide and twirl around. The Hotel de Ville has a backdrop of the grand Renaissance style city hall and is a great alternative if you’re afraid of heights. Show off your best moves as you head out of your hotels in Paris and entry is completely free.
Head to Marias after all that exercise and find a spot in Le Loir dans la Theire, an Alice in Wonderland themed cafe that thrives on mismatched furniture. This cafe is extremely popular and chances are you’ll have to queue, but it is well worth the wait.
The Notre Dame is a well known Paris landmark and in the winter, it becomes even more beautiful. Between December and January, the Notre Dame Cathedral Christmas tree is erected and stands proud at the front of this sight, twinkling and sparkling in the dusky light. There is a Christmas sound and light show inside the Cathedral, as well as a projection of the Nativity story.
Springing up in almost every district of the city during the winter months are merry-go-round’s, which are one of the most loved traditions in Paris. Head out from your cheap hotels and relive your childhood as you ride traditional wooden horses and old-fashion cars.
