7 AM: Turnout: Total turnout in all of Iraq was probably only about 40-45%. There were long lines in Karbala and Najaf. In other parts of the south, turnout was lower. Qadisiyah, Missan, Amarah and Diwaniyah Provinces saw 40% turnout maximum. In Basra it was only about 33%.
Polls were deserted in Fallujah, Samarra and most of Anbar Province. 300 ballots were cast in Ramadi. Election officials went home in Baiji. There was heavy turnout in villages around Ramadi and refugee camps near Fallujah. Many people voted in Riyadh, which is really surprising. There was also significant turnout in Hawiyah. There was heavy turnout in Baqubah and Hilla and all of the Shia South and the Kurdish North.
There was significant turnout in both east and west Mosul. Kurdish scum imported 50,000 illegal voters in order to try to hijack the election in Kirkuk and apparently pulled off the scam. Voters in various parts of Mosul and in Sunni districts in Baghdad were denied the right to vote. Christians staged demos in Mosul demanding the right to vote. Kurds voted heavily in Kirkuk and the Arabs stayed away. Polls in Tikrit were deserted. Samarra, Latifiyah and Mahmudiyah had a very low turnout.

5:25 PM: A British C-130 transport plane crashed 25 miles northwest of Baghdad on a trip between Baghdad and Balad, killing at least 10 and up to 15 British soldiers. Ansar Al Sunna and the Green Brigades claimed they shot the "low-flying" plane down with an anti-tank missile.
AAS issued a videotape showing a missile launch and then showing the plane wreckage on the ground, but it was not conclusive. This was a major coup for the guerrillas. This is the first time they have ever downed a C-130 and they killed 10-15 British soldiers to boot.
